Wedding toasts are usually made at the end of the wedding speech although they do not have to be preceded by a long speech.
Wedding toasts at the wedding reception can be made to a number of people: the bride, the groom, the bride and groom together, the bride and groom and their children, the bridesmaids, the bride’s parents, the groom’s parents, the bride’s grandparents, the wedding guests, and absent friends or loved ones.
The Father of the Bride’s wedding speech, for example, typically finishes with a toast to the bride and groom.
The groom’s wedding thank you speech ends with a toast to the bridesmaids.
A toast can also be made to acknowledge or recognize someone’s special contribution to the event – including a toast to the hosts of the wedding reception.
Although not mandatory, wedding toasts are a time-honored tradition that can be a meaningful part of any wedding event.
